Articles » 6th Gen Clear Corners

first i had to remove my bumper/grill. that was pretty easy - there were 7 plastic clips on top, two bolts on the bottom and one screw under each fender.

i had to remove the bumper to get at these two bolts on the head lights. there were only 4 bolts holding the headlight in place. fairly simple.

i got the headlights off now it was time to break the seal so i could get inside and remove the amber plastic. i didn't have access to a heat gun so i put them in the oven for about 3 minutes at 325 degrees

once the glue is hot, the headlights are much easier to pull apart

after you get them pulled apart, there are two screws that hold the chrome piece in. take those out and then there are two screws that hold the amber pieces in.

after taking off this piece i'd recommend putting the screw back in so it doesnt look like there's a hole there. (not that you can really see it anyway)

while you have the chrome piece out, you can paint it. i started painting them black, but didn't like it. i was going for more of a black chrome look - it didn't happen. if you screw up like i did, be carefull taking the paint off. the chrome will come off too.

putting them back on is just like taking them apart. put the screws back in, heat them back up and reseal the glue, use some sort of weatherproof sealant/glue to fill in any spaces that you might have made, make sure that they're level when bolting them down (theres a little level inside the housing) and throw the bumper back on. then you have nice clear corners

sorry the pics are kinda dark.. i ran out of daylight. i also swapped out the clear bulbs for amber ones so my turn signals are still orange when they light up. otherwise they would have been clear and i don't think that would fly with the cops around here.
